John McIlwaine (most of his friends call him ‘Jackie’), was born and raised in Kilwaughter, 3 miles from the town of Larne on the beautiful Antrim coast. Jackie currently resides in Ballyboley, a picturesque country location with a reservoir and stunning forest, first planted in 1957.
As a local successful businessman, who, after 35 years dealing in antiques and paintings in Larne now fulfills his passion dealing in the finest of Irish Art from many well known local artists from past and present.
In a bright and pleasant gallery we proudly display paintings including work by – Sam McClarnon, Charlie McAuley, RB Higgins, Ken Murtagh, J.P. Rooney, Noel Shaw and Tom McGoldrick.

McIlwaines Art Gallery can be found on Agnew Street, Larne and after five successful years has gained a reputation as a friendly and informative location to visit and to view the excellent traditional Irish art on display.
A family man, his interests include watching wildlife programs, motorcycle racing, with particular interest in local riders, the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix. Among Jackie’s favourite artists are RB Higgins, JH Craig, Charlie McAuley and Sam McClarnon.
